Sometimes it is easy to forget why we fell in love with books to begin with. This is especially true I think of those of us who were English Majors in college. Honing your ability to analyze books and styles, it becomes all too easy to take your eye off the ball.
Ultimately we first fell in love with books for one simple reason, pleasure. Nothing more. Nothing less.
True pleasure in our world is difficult to come by. And in our digital and distracted age it is growing more difficult to come by each day. True pleasure, as we find in the great pastimes of life (baseball, being in Nature, listening to music, and reading) is a leisurely thing. It unwinds. The point is not something beyond the moment, but the moment itself.
